The cabin noise levels are impressively low even in the absence of double-glazed windows. Got some time in the R450 recently. The gearbox impresses with smooth shifts, and the braking systems inspire confidence. While the all-air ride suspension cushions most bumps, certain sharp road flaws can still make their presence felt. The cab design combines durability with a comfortable, quiet environment, featuring plenty of storage and tech for the driver. It’s a dependable truck for a variety of hauls.

I recently had the chance to drive the Scania R450. It's a pretty solid unit overall. The new engine feels strong and manages fuel well-ran about 26.6 liters on a trip with a full load. Handling is straightforward without surprises, which is essential. However, the cabin seating left a bit to be desired for longer drives. Still, it offers decent comfort and visibility. Retarder and brakes work like a charm. Overall, it's reliable. Not perfect but functions admirably.

So, I drove the Scania R450 during a route last week, and here’s my take. The dual fuel tanks offer great range, perfect for longer hauls. Interior is spacious, and the orthopaedic mattress was comfortable for my overnight rest. Retarder-assisted braking is a feature I’ve appreciated, especially on descents. While the climate control is functional, I found the buttons a bit fiddly at times. The cabin sound insulation is decent, though not completely isolating on noisy highways.

Been in a Scania R450 Euro 6 (2018) for a bit, around 182k on it. Overall it’s a comfy work truck but it has some weird little misses.

Stuff I like: the adaptive cruise is handy on French motorways, and the collision warning takes some stress out when traffic compresses. Retarder + brake setup feels natural, you can set it to come in automatically and it actually helps keep things tidy on descents. Lights are proper strong too, high beam + extra topside lamps make night runs easy. Menu on the wheel is clear, and I like that you can check things like oil level and brake wear without digging around.

Cab wise… mixed. The extra heater timers are great for sleeping, I use that a lot. But no seat heating in this spec, and the driver armrest area is tight against the door so adjusting the seat is annoying. Floor isn’t flat, so the fridge ends up small and kinda useless for bigger bottles. Sun visor design is also dumb, there’s a corner where sun still hits you and it gets old fast. Top bunk feels lower than other Scanias I’ve been in, not much headroom if you sit up.

Still, it drives easy, controls are where you expect, and it feels like a solid long-haul setup even if the cab storage/comfort details aren’t perfect.
